VIEWABILITY

ad viewability

The percentage of ad impressions that actually had a chance to be seen, according to established viewability standards.

Why it matters

Enables payment for real opportunity to be seen, rather than for ad code being called.

What's missing without it

Without this metric, part of the budget pays for impressions below the screen edge that no one actually saw.

When it is used

In display and video campaign reports, and during programmatic buying.

How we use it

Standard: at least half the ad surface visible for one second for display, two seconds for video.

Fun fact

The standard refers to the possibility of being seen, not actual viewing. An ad visible for one second at the bottom of the screen counts the same as one someone actively looked at.
