The motorola edge smartphone family wins the Red Dot Award for outstanding design
Motorola edge wins the Red Dot Award
The recently introduced motorola edge and motorola edge+ have already earned Motorola its second Red Dot Award this year. The two new devices, submitted as a product family, were recognized in the world's most famous design competition for their exceptional quality of design. In 2020, more than 6,500 products from 60 countries were entered into the competition, of which only 25% received this distinction.
Motorola's design philosophy
Motorola's design approach has always focused on providing consumers with innovations that turn technology into useful features. This applies to the brand's entire product range, but the motorola edge and motorola edge+ offer users the best experience, accompanied by beautiful, surprisingly functional and advanced design — a bold and modern interpretation of what a smartphone can be.
Key features and design
The main goals guiding the team behind the motorola edge family were usability, simplicity, attractiveness and maximum performance. These were achieved thanks, among other things, to an interactive display curved at a 90° angle, a high-resolution camera system, a capacious battery and the fastest data transmission in history on 5G networks. These high-class features had to be matched by equally impressive looks and luxurious style — referencing Murano glass through depth and color gradient. The efficient and fast-working interior perfectly harmonizes with the externally visible cameras and high-resolution screen, as well as powerful speakers.
We know how important it is not only to meet consumers' needs, but also to include an element of surprise, and the motorola edge smartphone family is one step on a longer journey toward smoothly and intuitively operating devices with groundbreaking design — said Paul Pierce, head of Luxury and Innovative Design at Motorola. We strive to create devices that adapt to users, not the other way around. Accordingly, all decisions made while creating these new smartphones focused on consumers and increasing usability through practical innovation.
