Michał Kramarz to head Google for Startups in Poland and the region

At the beginning of October, Michał Kramarz, previously Head of Startups, Export & Entrepreneurship Development at Google, took on the role of Director of Google for Startups for Central and Eastern Europe and Head of the Google Campus in Warsaw. In this position, he succeeds Agnieszka Hryniewicz-Bieniek, who has served as Global Director of Google for Startups since July of this year.

With the appointment of the new head, the Google for Startups campus in Warsaw will increase support for startups in areas such as the use of and access to Google tools and technologies. Entrepreneurs will be able to expand their knowledge through several programs on topics including analytics tools, advertising techniques, and cloud computing technologies, as well as develop their business skills—such as building and managing teams and creating business models.

Google for Startups is a global division of the company focused on supporting startup growth, providing knowledge about Google technologies, running accelerator programs, and collaborating with mentors, investors, and entrepreneur communities. Google for Startups initiatives operate in over 125 countries and include joint activities with more than 50 incubators, accelerators, and co-working spaces. As part of this network, Google has opened 7 Campuses worldwide, one of which is in Warsaw, and this is the one Michał Kramarz will lead.

Kramarz is a graduate of the International Faculty of Engineering at Łódź University of Technology and holds an Executive MBA from Towson University/University of Maryland. He has been active in the internet industry for 15 years. He joined Google in 2006, being one of the company's first employees in Poland. In 2015, he became head of the team supporting the expansion of Polish startups into global markets. Previously, he was responsible for developing cooperation with the trade, e-commerce, financial, and tourism sectors. Before joining Google, he worked for the Bankier.pl S.A. group.

The Warsaw Campus in numbers

In November 2015, with the rapidly growing Polish startup ecosystem in mind, Google opened a Campus for startups in Warsaw's Praga district. In 2018 alone, 615 events for the Polish startup community were held there. But the Campus is not just a place for exchanging experiences and meeting with mentors and investors. Above all, it is a space where you can found and grow your own companies. Startups affiliated with the Warsaw Campus have so far created over 2,300 new jobs and raised nearly 70 million zloty in funding (approximately £13 million). Every year, the Campus launches free equity-free support programs for entrepreneurs. This year, Google focused on the mobile gaming sector and accepted 12 startups from 4 countries into the intensive Google for Startups Residency program.
