There is no doubt that smartphone owners are a bit too attached to their phones. Recent research has also shown that Android users touch their smartphones on average as many as 2,617 times a day.
The study was conducted by the company dscout and involved 94 Android users. An unusual app was installed on the respondents' phones: it recorded every touch of the phone screen 24 hours a day for five days.
Some apps, as the study proved, are more "touch-generating" than others. For example, gaming apps require about 80 taps in a single session, which, however, is not surprising given their "activating" nature. Right after them, in second place in terms of the aforementioned "touch-generating" quality, came shopping apps. When using them, users often touch the screens to zoom in on a photo of a given product or to see more photos.
The least "touching," in turn, is required by news and weather-related apps – when using them, we touch our phones on average 45 times during a single session.
Unfortunately, the study did not include dating apps, and – as one might assume – they are just as "activating" as games.
