MIMETECHNICZNE
TechnicalHow it works under the hood

MIME

Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions

A standard that defines the type of data being transmitted, such as text/html, application/json, audio/mpeg, or audio/wav. MIME headers help clients and servers correctly interpret files and the content of HTTP and email communications.

Why it matters

Tells the recipient what a file is before opening it: browsers choose how to handle it based on the MIME type, not the file extension. Incorrect types break downloading, previewing, and security.

What's missing without it

With wrong types, browsers display files instead of downloading them, players fail to play, and servers may be vulnerable to content injection.

When it is used

When serving files, sending emails with attachments, and configuring APIs that return media.

How we use it

API returns audio/mpeg for MP3 files so the browser correctly plays the generated audio.
