Is it possible to predict our future in terms of health and social outcomes? Is there a tool that can analyze our life histories and forecast possible events in our lives? The answer is yes, thanks to a new algorithm developed by scientists at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) called "life2vec."

AI Will Predict Our Future

This algorithm, operating on a similar principle to the popular ChatGPT, focuses on analyzing various variables that affect individuals' lives, such as date and place of birth, education, social benefits, or even work hours. Based on this data, the program can predict a wide range of potential health and social "events" in our lives.

Life2vec uses anonymized data collected by the official agency Statistics Denmark, analyzing sequences of life events of approximately six million Danes. As a result, the algorithm can predict life trajectories – from birth to death.

Professor Sune Lehmann, one of the authors of the study published in the scientific journal "Nature Computational Science", emphasizes that although the prediction framework is general, the future possibilities are practically unlimited.

Can AI Predict the Future Without Risking Privacy Violations?

Life2vec not only predicts the future but can also support doctors in diagnosing and treating patients. Thanks to innovative AI tools, such as the one developed by scientists at Penn Medicine in February 2024, faster detection of diseases, including cancers, is possible.

AI Algorithms Will Even Predict the Time and Cause of Death!

According to Prof. Lehmann, this algorithm can predict not only health conditions but also events such as fertility, obesity, or cancer risk. Although the results are impressive – the algorithm can predict the time and cause of death in 78% of cases and 73% of cases of moving to another city or country – its development also raises certain concerns.

These concerns stem from the possibility of this data being used by insurance companies or financial institutions. Precise prediction of disease risk or life situations can be used against individuals. Therefore, it becomes necessary to introduce strict legal regulations regarding the use of AI tools for predictive purposes.

The conclusion is clear: although AI-based tools can be powerful support in predicting the future, caution must be exercised and appropriate regulations must be ensured to avoid abuse and violations of individuals' privacy.
