On 22 February, Warsaw hosted the launch of a new service offered by the Uber platform – UberX Share. It is an innovative solution designed to match passengers travelling in a similar direction, which helps reduce emissions and ease congestion in the capital. UberX Share also offers financial benefits for users, cutting ride costs by up to 30% compared with the traditional UberX option.
Uber introduces a new service
This initiative fits into Uber's long-term commitments to sustainability and its goal of achieving full carbon neutrality by 2040. As part of that target, the company has already rolled out a range of technological innovations, including advanced artificial intelligence algorithms for mapping eco-friendly routes and apps that support efficient charging of electric vehicles.
UberX Share is already available in several European metropolises, including Zurich and Paris, and Warsaw is now joining them – a sign of the city's innovativeness and openness to new transport technologies.
How UberX Share works and who can use it
In addition to the benefits for passengers, the service also opens up new opportunities for Uber drivers. By accepting UberX Share jobs, they can serve more customers during a single trip, which translates into higher earnings. What's more, the system encourages tipping, which can further boost drivers' income.

Marcin Moczyróg, Uber's General Manager for the Central and Eastern Europe region, stresses the importance of launching this service, pointing to its positive impact on both the environment and sustainable urban development. Choosing Warsaw as one of the first conurbations to roll out UberX Share proves that Poland's capital is an important market for the company and a leader in transport innovation.
To use UberX Share, simply select that option in the Uber app after entering your destination address. The service is available to solo passengers only, in order to increase safety and comfort. For groups, other options are recommended, such as UberX, Uber Comfort or Uber XL.
