ABAC

Attribute-Based Access Control

An authorization model that evaluates attributes of the user, resource, action, and context, such as organization, project owner, document status, or access time. It is more flexible than RBAC.

Why it matters

Enables access grants based on situational characteristics, not just roles — for example, an editor can edit only articles from their own brand and only before publication. Rules are more precise than rigid roles.

What's missing without it

With roles alone, every editor sees everything, or roles must be multiplied endlessly — over time, no one knows who actually has access to what.

When it is used

When access depends on context: project owner, document status, brand, time, or location.

How we use it

A user can edit only materials belonging to their organization and assigned project.
