The Wall Street Journal has fired its chief foreign correspondent over suspicions of unethical business dealings.

The decision follows an Associated Press (AP) report stating that Jay Solomon received shares in one of the companies owned by Iranian arms magnate Farhad Azima. AP suggests Solomon used Azima as a source for his articles. The WSJ stated that the journalist violated the newspaper's standards and professional ethics rules, and dismissed him.
