AuthN

Authentication

The process of verifying the identity of a user, application, or service, for example, via password, key, token, certificate, or a second factor. Answers the question: who is trying to gain access?

Why it matters

This is the first line of defense: the system must know who is knocking before deciding what access to grant. Strong authentication (keys, second factor) stops most account takeovers.

What's missing without it

Weak authentication means that a single leaked password gives outsiders access to the admin panel, email, and customer data.

When it is used

Every time someone logs into a system, API, or service — from a CMS dashboard to an email inbox.

How we use it

Admin login via email, password, and one-time MFA code.
