"Product of the Year – Consumers' Choice in Poland" is the Polish edition of the world's largest product innovation competition. The "Product of the Year" organization was founded 30 years ago in France and now operates in more than 40 countries worldwide. In Poland, after 12 years, the competition is launching in a new format - in line with international standards.
"Product of the Year" is a global and independent competition focused on innovation, says Philippe Gelder, head of the worldwide "Product of the Year" organization - for us, all expert definitions are irrelevant; what matters most are consumers, and they have a clear perception of innovation: in their understanding, it is something that makes everyday life easier or better - Gelder adds.
Manufacturers and distributors can enter products launched on the market after January 1, 2016. The competition is open to all product categories in which innovations occur. Entries may include FMCG products, electronic equipment, household goods, as well as banking products, cars, or over-the-counter medicines. Entries will be approved by the Expert Committee, which includes specialists in retail, industrial design, and marketing communications. The Committee will assess whether entries comply with the rules, but it will not influence the final ratings.
The choice belongs to consumers, who will take part in the largest study of product novelties in Poland. The study is carried out according to a uniform methodology worldwide - in Poland it will be conducted by AC Nielsen Polska on a sample of 3,500 respondents.
The competition will select only one winner in each category. The laureates will be announced during the Gala concluding the competition in March 2018. Winning, in addition to access to the study results, also involves receiving an annual license to use the "Product of the Year – Consumers' Choice in Poland 2018" emblem. The winning products will receive extensive promotion, primarily as part of consumer campaigns and in B2B communications.
We must remember that for manufacturers, investing in innovation development is the best way to protect their market position and maintain consumers' attachment to brands. According to a Nielsen report, of the 60,000 new products introduced to the European market, only 1 in 4 survives the first year, which is why marketing support for new products is so important, not only during their market debut but also in the subsequent period. - Gelder emphasizes.
The entry form, rules, and all information about the competition are available at: www.produktroku.pl. Products can be submitted until November 15.
The Expert Committee includes: Dr. Alicja Adamczak (President of the Polish Patent Office), Jacek Barankiewicz (President of the Management Board of the Advertising Council), Anita Basińska (Head of the Department of Design, SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Andrzej Gantner (Director General of the Polish Federation of Food Producers), Prof. Lechosław Garbarski (Head of the Department of Marketing, Kozminski University), Małgorzata Leniarska (CEO, Dragon Rouge Polska), Jerzy Minorczyk (Director General of IAA), Tadeusz Pokrywka (President of the National Chamber of Commerce for the Food Industry and Packaging), Maciej Ptaszyński (Director General of the Polish Chamber of Commerce), Bartłomiej Serafiński (CEO Touch Ideas), Zuzanna Skalska (Owner of 360Inspiration).
