"Rider Ratings" report: Polish users of the Uber app among the world's best

For the first time in its history, Uber is sharing data on the ratings of users who use the app. According to the "Uber Rider Ratings Report", Polish users took a high fifth place in the world among the 69 countries where the app is available. The report shows, among other things, at what time and on which days the highest scores can be expected, and in which Polish cities users have the highest ratings. In addition, Uber surveyed drivers who use the app for advice addressed to Uber users.

The ratings system in the app

The ability to rate each other in the Uber app is intended both to promote mutual respect between drivers and users and to strengthen the entire community of people using the app. After each completed trip, users and drivers can rate each other from 1 to 5 stars, based on their shared trip experience. All trips are tallied, and the overall rating is shown to both sides as an average. The ratings are anonymous. Uber emphasizes that honest, constructive and respectful feedback after a completed trip is added value and should matter to everyone using the app.

For this reason, Uber is publishing for the first time in its history a report presenting data on user ratings of the app around the world. It includes an analysis of all trips made from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.

The best days and hours for trips

Uber is sharing data to help users increase their chances of a high rating. An analysis of millions of data points from the app shows that drivers are most willing to give them the highest scores between 6:00 - 10:00 a.m. The "top five" hours are as follows:

  4. 9:00
  5. 10:00

Monday is the day worldwide when there is the highest chance that a user will get 5 stars. In Poland - just as in the United States - that day is Friday.

... and the hours when it happens least often

Drivers using the Uber app around the world are least willing to give a rating of 5 from midnight to 4 a.m. The hours when users are least likely to expect the highest score are as follows:

Sunday is the day when drivers are least inclined to give their passengers the highest ratings.

To remind people of the basics of respectful trips, Uber conducted a survey among drivers using the app about negative factors that could lower a user's rating after a trip. It is worth avoiding them if we want to have the highest possible ratings in the app.

5 things you yourself would expect from your passenger

  1. Don't be late. Be ready to go as soon as your driver arrives at the pickup point.
  2. Avoid slamming doors. If you want to show your driver respect, you should treat their car with care.
  3. Don't play music too loud. There is nothing wrong with asking to turn on music. However, it is worth making sure the driver does not mind and that it is not playing too loudly.
  4. Eating and drinking during the trip. Drivers suggest that users ask before the trip begins whether they can eat and drink in the car. The sight of greasy pizza stains on the back seat is not pleasant. The driver will then have to clean their car. It is also possible that they will charge the user an additional cleaning fee.
  5. Safety above all. Drivers are aware that during a trip they are responsible for both their own safety and that of their passengers. For Uber, the highest level of safety is also a priority, which is why the company continues to take measures to improve it. As a result, it can continuously meet the expectations of both drivers and passengers.
