Quarantine Fuels Creativity
Netflix has announced the premiere of HOMEMADE — a collection of short films by acclaimed creators from around the world. Forced to stay at home due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the filmmakers created personal, moving stories about our shared experience of life in quarantine. HOMEMADE, a series produced by Fabula and The Apartment Pictures (part of the Fremantle group), proves that cinematic art and the creativity of its makers resist all challenges — even one like a global pandemic.
The stories presented were created exclusively using equipment found in the creators' homes at the moment the world went into lockdown. They are both intimate diaries of the filmmakers' everyday lives and short narratives in various genres that show the impact of the epidemic and the related social distancing on different countries and the lives of people around the world.
Creators from Around the World in the Project
Lorenzo Mieli, CEO of The Apartment, along with Juan de Dios Larraín and Pablo Larraín from Fabula, invited filmmakers from various parts of the world to take part in the project, including:

What Is Netflix Homemade? A Collection of Quarantine Films
“Homemade is an invitation to a group of directors who explore new directions of creativity under the same conditions. It is a very democratic project. In this case, it is not about resources, but about cinematic art,” adds Juan de Dios Larraín.
Pablo Larraín, director of one of the segments in the series, recalls: “It was a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with people I admire. Thanks to Netflix and its fantastic team, we had an extraordinary chance to continue working in such strange yet unique times.”

In these unprecedented times, we have the opportunity to work with an incredible group of different filmmakers and present their personal stories to viewers around the world.”
The film anthology will be released globally on Netflix on June 30, 2020.
On behalf of each creator of the Homemade collection, the Netflix relief fund will make a donation to an organization of their choosing that supports members of the film community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
