Amazon raises wages by 13.5% and hires 10,000 seasonal workers for Christmas

Amazon has announced plans to hire over 10,000 seasonal workers at its Polish logistics centres during the pre-Christmas period. Entry-level employees can expect a new, higher hourly rate of 33.92 PLN gross, which includes an attendance bonus. The company, celebrating 10 years of operations in Poland, has allocated 236.4 million PLN for wage increases, its largest investment in wages in Poland.

From 1 October 2024, the hourly rate for entry-level employees (including seasonal workers) will increase by 13.5% compared to 2023. This rate applies to all 11 Amazon logistics centres in Poland and covers seasonal, full-time and part-time employees. In addition to higher wages, Amazon also offers a rich benefits package, including private medical care, life insurance and subsidies for commuting and meals.

For the Christmas peak, the company is intensifying recruitment. Employment is available to a wide range of people, including those without professional experience, creating an opportunity to start a career in logistics. Amazon provides its employees with access to a wide range of training, including language courses as part of the "Invest in Your Development" programme, which has been running for 10 years.

Robert Lisicki, director of the labour department at the Lewiatan Confederation, points to low unemployment in Poland, which stood at 5% in August 2024. This situation forces employers to offer attractive working conditions, especially during seasonal periods. Amazon is rising to these challenges by offering stable employment conditions and numerous benefits.

Amazon has been investing in the development of its employees for years. Mentoring programmes and the "Invest in Your Development" initiative enable employees to acquire new skills and advance within the company's structures. Employees can receive funding of up to 26,000 PLN to cover education costs. The company also invests in diversity, equity and inclusion, which has contributed to winning the Top Employer certification for the third year in a row.

Amazon has been present on the Polish market for a decade, where it has paid its employees a total of more than 15 billion PLN in wages. In 2024, the company continues to invest in development and employment, confirming its position as one of the largest employers in the country.
